Overcoming Tragedy - Family Is Forever

Ever since our son, Brey has passed away, it's been hard to overcome
the emotions of loss and sorrow, but we are making an effort to stay positive
and keep our chins up for our twin girls.
Vanessa and Veronica are our prides and joys right now.
Veronica has such an innocent smile and Vanessa is a sweet little baby!

I decided to get my hair cut and try a different style for once in my life
for a nice change.

We couldn't clean the burned parts out of the old house,
so we moved down town to a bigger home near the lake side.
It's a very pleasant setting and a good place to raise our daughters.

On the night we moved in, I was still remembering my son's passing,
but I tried to hold it together because my daughter, Veronica was nearby.

As we completed our move and settled down for the night,
Pay brought Vanessa upstairs to put her to bed.

Pay met me in the bedroom and he got excited and complimented
me on my new haircut and clothing. He loved how I look!

We settled down and went to bed early that night, but I didn't sleep very well
and was restless.

I ended up waking up early in the morning before the sun even rose
and thought about what life was going to be like now.

I got the girls up when the sun rose and set them down
in their room with a bottle and their dolls.
They spent most of the time singing and playing.

Later that afternoon, we put swimsuits on the girls
and we took them outside to the backyard
where we had a private homemade beach.
We had it laid out for us about a week prior and it turned out
wonderfully. It felt so great to feel the sand between my toes;
it has been ages since I have been to an actual beach!

Vanessa played with in the sand and Pay helped her build a sandcastle
so she could have a place to play with her dolls.

I just couldn't stop thinking about how wonderful it is to finally
be away from all the drama and chaos.

Pay is such a great father and ever so loving to his children.
He is there every step of the way.

He helped Veronica learn to walk that afternoon
and she was delighted to be walking on her own two feet.

Vanessa was having difficulties, but she managed to
trust me and took my encouragement and took her first steps!

After Pay spent time with Veronica, he decided to slide around
on the water-slide.

Veronica sat down on the sand and sang to her imaginary friend doll
as I helped Vanessa get used to walking.

After awhile, Vanessa got tired of waking and sat down in the sand, she
then mumbled a few words and I took the hint to teach her some more.

I said, "Vanessa, Mommy loves you."
She replied with, "Mommy, Vanessa loves you!"
Awww, she's so darling!

As the night approached, I wasn't feeling so great and
my stomach started to churn.

I had to quickly run inside to the bathroom!

It didn't end well as I ended up throwing up in the toilet...
I thought I had something bad earlier for lunch...

While I was busy making my nausea go away, Pay finished
helping the girls potty train before they aged up that night!

Veronica is a spitting image of me, except for the curly hair she got
from her father! Oh she's so beautiful!

Vanessa is completely her own being.
She loves pigtails and simple clothing because she likes to be
neat and tidy just like her father... yet
she's spunky like me!

The girls ended the night by discovering they inherited their father's imaginary friend
gene and gossiped about how they were going to freak the kids out at school
by showing up their toy forms... OH my girls!

Meteors - Curses From Heaven

I finally announced the pregnancy to Pay!
"Pay, I am pregnant!" I said with excitement.
He stared at my stomach and finally realized what I said.
"Oh my gosh! GARLYNE! Really?! Wow. Yes!" he exclaimed.

He leaned his ear up to my stomach to see if he could hear
a heartbeat yet.

He softly rubbed my stomach as he looked at me with such
amazement. He said he was trilled beyond words.

I spent the morning watching television as Pay went out to jog
and go to the gym.

The sun finally rose in Hidden Springs and it was time for school.

Pay finished up his experiments that he had been working on since
five in the morning.

He told Precious he had to go to school and ran off the catch the bus.

I watched t.v. and read books all day as I felt the babies growing inside.
I knew I was having twins, I just could feel it.

Later on by night, I had a baby bump!
I was huge!

"Oh little babies, you have a bit more time til you meet mommy!"
I said to my unborn children.

Pay got home from school and proceeded to do his homework.
He was very frustrated with mathematics.
Pay sat down and asked him if he needed help.

I saw Pay and caught his attention, "Hey how is Brey and his schooling? Is he doing alright?"
"He is doing okay at the moment, I sat down and helped him a bit," he replied.

Suddenly I felt a sharp, painful kick in my side and couldn't
stand up straight. The pain continued and I looked toward Pay who was wondering
what happened and said, "The baby's coming."

"Here it comes," I said as Pay started to freak out.

And I had a baby girl, Veronica Mead.

As I was upstairs, I had more contractions and
had another girl, Vanessa Mead.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following week...

ALL OF THE SUDDEN,
Out of no where...
A loud explosion.
A meteor fell from the sky as the sun was rising in from behind
the mountains and landed in the front yard of the Mead house.
Flames started to spread as the dust settled.

Brey was sitting in the bushes playing with his imaginary friend doll...
He couldn't sleep during the early part of the morning...
Almost as if he was aware something was going to happen...
However, the meteor was just meters away from him.
It could have crushed him!
Instead, it burned off his clothing...

Fire started to engulf the house within minutes of the meteor hitting the
ground. Black smoke spread through out the house.

Finally awake and panicked, Pay picked up the phone and dialed 911.

Not but a few minutes later, a fireman had arrived at the house.
He was the first on the scene because he saw and heard the loud explosion.

As the morning passed, eventually two firetrucks were parked outside as the firefighters
attempted to extinguish the flames.

Brey was still standing outside unsure of what to do.

In only seconds, the sky grew darker and as Brey looked up
he saw something falling from the sky......

As the sky got unusually dark for the early morning,
more firetrucks came to the house to assist in the efforts to
get the fire under control.

BOOM!
Another explosion!

Black smoke rose from the extensive holes in the ground.

More rock, debris, and fire.
The entire house was in flames now.
One of the firefighters was on fire and severely burned...

As the fire was becoming controllable and the smoke cleared,
a glowing orange light arose from the meteor...

None other than the Grim Reaper himself...
showed up...
someone had died...

He breathed deep and stretched out his arms into the air with
his scythe in hand.

He turned to the front of the house...

An neon orange black figure arose from a grave that had appeared
out of thin air.

It was Brey...
He had lost his life to a meteor...
An unfortunate fate for such a young boy....
He knelt down in front of the Grim Reaper and asked for another chance.
The Grim Reaper looked at him with surprise as the boy begged.

Brey looked up one more time as he plead, but the Reaper
shook his head and had decided his fate was sealed.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That same day was the twins' birthdays...
Pay, unaware of his son having passed, took his daughters out of their cribs
and let them age up.

Veronica Mead looks just like me!
She's the cutest daughter I could ask for.
She has such an innocence.

Vanessa Mead is her father's daughter because she has his features,
but she has my eyes. She even got her grandfather's skin tone, just like my twin
sister Genesis. My father's father is some part Mexican.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's been about two weeks since our son passed...
We turned the holes into a small pond and left the meteor
where it lay being that it is far too heavy to move.

We placed Brey's grave here on our lot near the pond
along with a piece of meteor and some yellow flowers, which was
one of his favorite colors.

We can't get over our son's death...
Our family has lost so many family members to the most unfortunate
disasters... from drowning, to fire, to meteors, and illness...

This can't be happening to me...
Brey come back to me...
Come back to us...

We didn't lose just Brey, we lost his true love,
Precious...

This photo was found in his school books...
He could see her way before she ever could be seen by us...
Poor Precious...

WHY IS MY FAMILY CURSED?
WHY?

Rest in Peace Brey and Precious Mead.

You both were our children and loved forever...
Rest together you darling souls...
-Love your mother, Garlyne...
